Editorial WelcomeBy Mona Pelkey |

Dear Readers, When I finished editing Barbara McLay’s article, “Reading
Rate: Research versus Teaching,” I was absolutely stunned. If
you teach speed reading, as I did for two and a half years, you may
rethink your practice after reading her article. In fact, if you teach
at all, I’m sure that you will find Barbara’s article intriguing
and enlightening. Toni Alazraki shares her new tool for tutoring ESL writing students via email. I tutor writing online and I am often challenged when I download essays written by ESL students. Perhaps you face the same kinds of challenges, and would like to find out what Toni has devised to help her students correctly construct sentences as practice after tutoring. Read her article, and see what you think! Have fun with our humor column and brainteasers, and as always, your contributions are more than welcome! Mona Questions or comments?
