Dear Readers,
Welcome to the November/December issue of The Learning Center Exchange! I have
both good news and bad news. The good news is that Barbara McLay begins a new
humor column this month, inspired by true situations with students. If you need
a good laugh (and who doesn’t at the end of a long semester), please check
it out! And if these stories remind you of some of the hilarity that has occurred
in your own classroom, please share with us! Send your funny stories and jokes
to Barbara at bmclay@cchd.usf.edu,
and she will consider including them in a future column.
The bad news is that we cannot offer the www.learningassistance.com/forums features at this time. A few weeks ago one of our faithful readers could not access the site to post her plan to help Candace (our student whose living situation was interfering with her academic success), so she alerted me to the problem. I found that a hacker had blocked all access to our website with a screen-sized marquee that stated we were hacked by “Sinok” and that we should protect our forum! I contacted our Accutrack sponsor, Mon Nasser, who has attempted to repair the site, without success. The hacker did a lot of damage and we are uncertain when the forum will be up and running again.
As always, we welcome your articles for our publication. Please contact me at mpelkey@learningassistance.com for more submission details.
Happy holidays!
Mona
